Cash….The Orginal “Green” Industry

February 8th, 2010

Construction Project LeadsOne of the most popular buzzwords in the past 15 years has been all of this talk about “being green”

More then ever you have so many companies and products that have come to market who tout the same message.  “We are Green!”,…if this was 20 years ago and someone said that you probably would have asked if they were from outer space.

I would venture to say that some of these characters could very well even be from outer space!

There are few industries that have been affected by this market more then the construction field.  Contractors looking for construction project leads have tried to squeeze their business into the already over populated bandwagon.  Most are failing at the attempt, mainly because they are focusing on the wrong “Green”

Most contractors will focus on green as being something that saves the planet.  That’s great and yes you will have a few people that will have that as being the main motivating factor in making their decision.  But lets face it most people are tired of being green!

they consistently are bombarded with green this and green that, how much better for the planet this is over that.  I would venture to say that most people if presented with two products that were equal in size, quantity, quality and effect they would choose the “greener” of the two options.

This works well perhaps for spray cleaners but not for the construction industry.  This is a very common position that construction contractors take, the only problem there is one very big difference……PRICE

Most of the green products that a contractor tries to push on a client are much more expensive then the similar counterpart.  I would stay away from trying to position my business in this type of a market, when it really comes down to it people care a heck of a lot more about the “green” in their pocket then they do about “greening” the planet.

Fortunately as far as construction goes there is huge opportunity in the green marketplace.

Request your “green” project using TheJujuList.com

In order to make your mark in this industry it would be best to focus on the green in the pocket that actually is a motivating factor in a clients decision making process.

Most of the products or service that a green contractor would offer also can help a client save money.  rather then spending time on marketing your company as one that is saving the plant, spin it to saving your clients boatloads of cash!

Your still helping the planet, of course  can make the client awaire of that fact, but they will be much more responsive about saving cash…the orginal “green” industry…then they will about saving the planet.

To make this even stronger focus on how much money the client is losing currently rather then how much you are going to save them!

Smart Phone Or Gereatric Phone for Construction Contractors?

February 6th, 2010

construction project leadsAs we are bombarded everyday with more and more technology to make our lives “easier” it seams more and more people are having a hard time deciding if they need these new fan-dangled contraptions for their business.

Construction contractors looking for construction project leads in my opinion are probably one of the industries who will benefit the greatest from these modern trinkets.  But yet it seams as if they are the ones who are having the hardest times adapting to the new way of doing business.

I feel that many of the construction contractors that i consult have a hard time with technology because in the past they havent really needed it for their business.  Most have always relied on printed materials to spread their message, and this work fine for many years but the fact of the mater is printed ads don’t have nearly the effect they once did.

A ordinary phone does two things and two things only.  You can make and receive calls…Duhh no rocket science there!

This means that your business files and records are inaccessible during regular business hours.  Your billing, invoicing, estimating, record keeping, marketing, advertising, emailing, product research all are saved to be done during your “off work” time.  Now I don’t know about you but that sounds like allot of work to do for not working!

The fact of the matter is that all of these can be handled while being out doing your regular daily activities using a smart phone.  As you probably know I’m partial to the Apple iPhone not only because of  The Juju List which is a construction project lead tool but also because of it’s ability to use the Internet in a very similar way as you would sitting at the desk top.

Using the iPhone you can cover just about all of your daily activities that usually are saved for hours more work when you get home from working for hours out in the field.

What Can Small Business Learn From Pepsi?

February 4th, 2010

What can you learn from a multibillion dollar global company whose brand is probably one of the most reconized names in the world today?

If you have been following what so many have been preaching including myself for so long this probably will not surprise you but Pepsi has decided to opt out of advertising at the super bowl this year.  Infact this is the first time in 23 years that the mega company is not running a spot.

The reason?  Some may argue it’s because of the recession…blah, blah, blah…

Pepsi Stock as of Feb 4

Construction project leadsPepsi has begun to realize the potential of attracting people to their side of the soda wars by interacting with them rather then cramming an ad agencies creation in the face of consumers.

The reason as Pepsi states in the linked article above is that it is exploring the opportunities to interact with clients on a consistent ongoing basis.  This of course is an nontraditional approach to the coveted multimillion dollar super bowl ad spots that so many look forward to.

With a very few exceptions the ads that are delivered to the estimated 100 million viewers

Coke Stock as of Feb 4

Construction project leadsduring the super bowl will be talked about for a few days.  You’ll most likely see shorted clips of the commercials that have been hacked apart to run during less popular viewing times for a few weeks after the big event but then what?

I feel that this will be a pivotal point that will make many major brand stand up and take notice at the full potential of social media when used to spread brand awareness.

Now the question I have for you in your business.  If a major player like Pepsi is making this bold move in it’s way of marketing (remember this has been a 23 year tradition) why are you not capitalizing on the opportunity?

Time will tell….
